The Centre has an extensive aboriginal cultural display, a settler's hut showcasing historical memorabilia, turn-of-the-century telephone exchange, a printing press and a motor rail ambulance. There are also displays on mining, forestry, tobacco, agriculture and the wet tropics. The wet tropics display features a cassowary (the flightless rainforest bird), other birdlife and rainforest vegetation. The museum is open from 8.00am to 4.00pm seven days a week.
