“Are You Kidding Me” was commissioned by the Mareeba Heritage Centre as a part of its 25th Anniversary celebrations. Written and illustrated by local resident Matilda Bishop, it’s a delightful, light-hearted children’s book which follows a group of mischievous goats as they run riot through Mareeba. Fun fact – in the 1920s Mareeba was home to a large population of goats, who always got into trouble.

“It was early in the morning of 1925, when the sun began to wake for the day, townsfolk were bustling, farmers were farming, and school children were coming out to play. But little did the townsfolk know, as normal as this day did seem, on the outskirts of town, by the old gumtree, there had formed an unlikely team.” – extract from “Are You Kidding Me”.
