We are a dedicated team of passionate locals whose goal is to serve our community and celebrate our area’s rich and varied history. Our team consists of two paid staff members and a host of enthusiastic volunteers. Our two staff have an extraordinary wealth of experience in their fields of expertise. They are General Manager Janet Greenwood and Heritage Shop Manager Shirley Lea.
Volunteers play a pivotal role in our success. Not only do they provide a warm welcome and range of helpful information and services at the Visitor Information Centre, they also provided guided tours of the Mareeba Heritage Museum. In 2019, 45 amazing volunteers gave 11,000 hours of their time. The estimated value of that volunteer time was $464,750. This not only helps the bottom-line, but more importantly, helps us to provide a memorable visitor experience and encourage exploration of our local area.
