Mareeba Heritage Museum and Information Centre volunteers took a step back in time on a recent visit to Irvinebank. The familiarisation tour allowed the team to better promote Irvinebank and the surrounding area to locals and visitors to the Mareeba Heritage Museum and Information Centre.
Mareeba Heritage Museum and Information Centre Manager, Sandrine Gloton, said the team thoroughly enjoyed learning about the rich history and that Irvinebank is truely a ‘living museum!’
Sandrine gives a big shout out to School of the Arts members Diane and Nola for morning tea and Lunch, Peter for the informative tour through the former home of John Moffatt (Irvinebank’s founder) and the Loudoun Mill complex, Nola for the tour of the old National Bank Building, and finally Brian for taking the team on an extensive tour of his machinery shed!
The team ended the day by dipping their toes in the cool waters of the Jumna dam, just outside of Irvinebank.
