New Website For Mareeba Heritage Centre and Visitor Information Centre

The Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre, are delighted to announce that we have received funding from the Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant Program to develop and design a new website to promote our centre and Mareeba. The new website will be designed to provide visual impact and appeal, creating a modern tourism website that appeals to our local, interstate and international visitors.

Our Regional Tourist Organisation, Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) will match funding to ensure the new website is aligned with the region’s brand platform of See Great, Leave Greater, launched in March. They will help us align the Mareeba experience with the Cairns & Great Barrier Reef brand story by participating in an Experience Development Workshop, including content for the website such as articles or images or video depending on what we all feel will work best.

A statement from General Manager, Janet Greenwood, reads: “With the impact of COVID-19 across our small community we looked at the best way to support the critical role we play in promoting tour operators, local businesses, events and general services in Mareeba. This became increasingly difficult when our doors closed for a short period of time however with TTNQ’s matched funding announcement we were encouraged to submit the grant to design a website to ensure visitors know where we are and what to expect. We submitted on the deadline with 91% of the potential funding already awarded and are super surprised and excited to be successful.”

RJ New Designs have been chosen to design the new website and assure us that the new site will be fast loading and simple to navigate. A statement from Julie Johnston of RJ New Designs, reads: “We love creating beautiful tourism websites which promote the destinations, attractions, activities, people and places of our vibrant region. The Tourism Kuranda website was a joy to deliver and we can’t wait to start on the new website for the Mareeba Heritage Museum and Visitor Information Centre. We’re also thankful to Janet and her team for choosing a North Queensland developer for their new website, keeping the money moving in the local economy. We look forward to working with them to make their online presence, as fabulous as their offline products and services.”

Amongst the features the site will be fully responsive, across mobile and desktop platforms, be compliant with Google’s mobile friendly update and will provide a stunning, professional online presence containing integrated social media buttons to foster improved communication with our visitors.

We would like to thank the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) as part of the Queensland Government’s Worker Assistance Package for awarding the funding assistance under the Small Business Adaption Grant Program, TTNQ for providing match funding, their time and energy to best support this opportunity, and our web designer’s RJ New Designs who we are certain will provide us with a bona fide destination website that has the potential to be a game changer for our community!
